Dog owners know hot pavement can burn paws, but most weather apps only show air temperature and leave people guessing at the actual walking risk.

2Hot4Paws
Is it too hot to walk your pup? Check pavement temps before you leash up.
Case Study
From rough idea to useful product
I built a fast Nuxt app that uses live weather data, location, and pavement temperature estimates to produce a simple go / caution / stop recommendation.
Instead of making owners interpret weather data, the app gives them a clear answer in seconds before they grab the leash.
About this project
2Hot4Paws solves a real problem for dog owners in hot climates: pavement can reach dangerous temperatures long before the air feels that bad. A sunny 85°F day can mean 130°F+ asphalt, which burns paw pads in seconds. Most people don't think to check until it's too late.
The app uses the Google Weather API to pull current conditions for your location, then estimates pavement surface temperature based on air temp, sun exposure, and surface type. It gives you a clear go / caution / stop recommendation so you know at a glance whether it's safe to walk your dog.
Built with Nuxt 4, the app is server-rendered for speed and uses geolocation to auto-detect your area. The UI is intentionally simple — open the app, get your answer, and get outside (or don't). It's designed to be the kind of tool you check in five seconds before grabbing the leash.
